Japan Art Society has been supporting and encouraging activities of artists and organizations in the field of performing arts. To facilitate artistic activities of artists and organizations, we are providing financial and managerial supports through various events and consulting services.

In 2008, we produced the Opera “Tales of GENJI” composed by MINORU MIKI in Tokyo and Yamagata(world premier in Japanese version, concert style). In the same year, we held the first audition for Opera Singers in collaboration with Teatro Marrucino di Chieti in Italy, and then two Japanese singers, Akiko Sato(Soprano) and Kazuhiro Yatabe(Bass), made their debut in the performance of Turandot in that theatre.

In 2009, we held a very important event for Asian opera singers called “Italian Opera Week in Japan” in Tokyo from September 1st to 13th. During this period, we organized and managed the second audition for Opera Singers in collaboration with Latvian National Opera and Teatro Sociale di Mantova and supported by the Japanese Embassy to Latvia and the Italian Embassy to Japan, the first Preliminary round in Asia of the International Competition for Opera Singers “Città di Ercolano” “Ritorna Vincitor” in collaboration with the City of Ercolano in Italy, and Master Class for Opera Singers by Maestro Paolo De Napoli.
In addition to the International Competition for Opera Singers in Ercolano, we are also going to collaborate with the First Festival of Baroque Music in Ercolano, Latvian National Opera, and Teatro Vittorio Emanuele di Messina in 2010.
